Goals
- Provide academic leadership and continue to develop a unique academic and intellectual experience for faculty/staff and students.
- Strengthen Illinois State University’s position with national, state and local governments. Work with state legislators and the Governor’s Office to enhance awareness of Illinois State University’s commitment to distinctiveness and excellence. Continue to build the Illinois State University presence in Washington, D.C., and include Board members as appropriate to participate in these efforts on behalf of the University.
- Continue to seek ways to enhance faculty and staff salaries in FY10 and implement the plan to bring salaries up to peer group medians by FY13. Work toward enhancing instructional capacity in general education and major programs.
- Communicate and promote the University’s strengths to internal and external constituencies.
- Work cooperatively with campus governance groups to achieve the goals of Educating Illinois.
- Enroll a broadly diverse student body that reflects the state’s population. Continue to foster a campus environment that is welcoming to individuals and groups from diverse backgrounds and experiences.
- Refine the University’s financial aid investment to ensure that it facilitates student recruitment, access and affordability.
- Enhance the recruitment and retention of a diverse faculty and staff.
- Continue the planning process for the institution’s property along Gregory Street and the Main Street corridor. Explore further opportunities for collaboration between the Foundation’s LLC and the University. Support residence hall and dining center renovations, as well as planning for the certified housing initiative.
- Strengthen connections to alumni, internal, and external stakeholders. Provide leadership as the University works to enhance its culture of philanthropy.
- Identify new opportunities for long-term program and/or campus expansion.
- Ensure that the University’s investment in information technology supports the vision and goals of Educating Illinois, and enhances teaching and learning, research, service, outreach and administration.
- Lead the Board as it reviews strategic issues facing the institution.
- Keep the Board informed about budget issues and new initiatives under discussion.
